カリフォルニアワインのお勝手口

Cima Collinaといってもほとんどの人が知らないと思いますが，「Cellar Rap」というブログは米国の「ワインブログ界」では知られる存在です。このブログを書くワインメーカーAnnette Hoffは，Sterling，Saitsburyを経てニュージーランドに渡り，Estancia，Cima Collinaという経歴。Pinot Noirへの情熱に駆られています。

新しいテイスティング・ルームはCarmel by the Seaにあり，今週土曜日6月30日にグランド・オープニングです。そちらに出かける予定のある方はぜひ。

「パリ・テイスティング」で白ワイン1位になったのはCh. Montelenaのシャルドネ。そのときのワインメーカーだったMike Grgich氏が開いたGrgich Hillsが30周年を迎えます。7月7日は30周年記念パーティ。

"Dust off those polyester suits, baggies and platform shoes—1970s attire is encouraged. And, “Put On Your Boogie Shoes,” because “You Should Be Dancin’” at our “Disco Inferno” with music from The Cheeseballs, the Bay Area’s top ‘70s cover band."

ワイナリのメンバーは77ドル。一般のお客さんは97ドルです。ワイナリが作られた1977年は映画「サタデー・ナイト・フィーバー」が作られた年。7月7日のパーティはこの時代に戻ろうということで，70年代の服装で来ることが奨励されています。もしかしたら30年前のワインも登場するかも。

ちなみにワイナリのプレ・リリース・パーティも兼ねるそうです。

ナパのダウンタウンにCopia（The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts）が鳴り物入りで開設したのは2001年11月。それから5年半，集客に苦しみ続けるCopiaの新たな戦略は「ワインに注力」することでした。

"One of those innovations is a series of Wine Stations, which will allow visitors to combine wine education with tasting and do it on their own."

具体的には「Station」と呼ぶワインのオートマティック・ディスペンサーを10個ほど設置するなどの強化を行います。Stationには「Best of Napa Valley Appellation」，「Best of Sonoma County Appellations」，「Finding Fault With Your Wine」，「Guess the Grape Variety」などがあります。例えば「Finding Fault With Your Wine」ではブショネのワインのテイスティングなどができるようになっているとか。

元記事には，読者からのコメントもありますが，賛否両論真っ二つに分かれています。なかなかCopiaの生き残り，難しそうですが，今回のリニューアル，一見の価値はあるかもしれません。
