ワイナリのピクニック・エリアで，そのワイナリで買ったワインを飲むことがカリフォルニアの州法で認められることになりました。これを推進したNoreen Evans下院議員は次のように言っています。
"Many winery visitors want to take a break from the tasting room and enjoy a little scenery over a picnic with friends. However, current law is unclear about winery picnics when a bottle of wine from the tasting room goes into someones picnic basket. I hope the Governor supports the affirmative solution offered in this legislation."

これまでの法律のちゃんとしたところは知らないのですが，どうやら，買ったワインは1回家に持ち帰らないといけないということに法律上はなっていたようです。実際にはNapaのV. Sattuiのようにピクニック・エリアでワインを開けることはよくあることでしたが，法律上は問題だったのですね。

今回はまだシュワルツネッガー州知事のサインはないものの，議会は上院下院とも全員賛成で可決されたそうです。大手を振ってワインを開けられるようになるわけですね，乾杯。
