takuyaさんが「 カリフォルニアで一番高いワインは何？」という記事でScreaming Eagleより高いワインがあるという話を書いていましたが，そのScreaming Eagleもさらに値上げだそうです（それでもGhost Horse Worldより安いですが）。メーリング・リスト会員向け価格で1本750ドル。

Parkerの掲示板で，この値段についてのスレッドが盛り上がっているところ，Robert Parker本人も登場。次のようにコメントしています。
Who cares?...that is the price..take it or leave it...if too many do the latter,the pricing decision was a fiasco....if you know what you are doing in the fine wine market...you rarely have to spend more than $50 to obtain very serious and delicious juice....the top end of the fine wine market for the last decade has been positioning itself as a luxury commodity...image...branding...ego. ..elitism...rarity...and so,so,so expensive....you got the money...they got the honey....forget about it...not worth all the anguish to blabber about any wine that expensive....it is what it is...the new unreal reality.....
I had several superb under $50 wines last night...98 Charvin CNDP....and Vatan's 05 Sancerre....and neither made me resent or envy a $750 Screaming Eagle...in short...Life's too short to waste time complaining about expensive wine....in the long history of wine...it has never worked... "Parker shrugged"

結局50ドルを超えるワインというのはほとんど「物」としての値段ではなくてブランドやらなにやらの上乗せがあるということ。今さら750ドルに憤慨しても，時間の無駄だよ，というようなことです。最後の「Parker shrugged」（と，Parkerは肩をすくめた）が気に入りました（笑）。
